The platform was created by Gene & Elaine Williams – a married couple who both played college sports. Once their playing days ended, they started private coaching to stay involved with the game & earn extra income – and they loved it! Realizing there wasn’t a go-to platform meant to help private coaches scale their business – like Airbnb does with rentals, or Rover for dog walkers – Gene & Elaine decided to build AU. They’ve seen the impact private coaching can make on a young athlete’s life trajectory, so that’s why they’re using their backgrounds in tech & coaching to help millions of young athletes succeed through elite coaching.

An integral part of our private training services is the useful video feedback. After each coaching lesson, your trainer will send short video clips of your training lessons, making notes about areas where you may need improvement. Track and Field Training Specific to the Athlete

Your AU trainer or coach will have you perform a few different drills to help you improve your skills and stamina with every session. Even if you’re not a hurdler, many trainers today believe these drills are vital to your overall track and field development. Regular hurdle training builds strength and stamina, which ultimately helps you improve both sprinting and long-distance running. You’ll also see an improvement in timing and rhythm, both vital in track and field. With each training session, you’ll gain more confidence as you improve stability and flexibility.
Race Strategy & Pacing Education
Effective track and field training involves developing a good race strategy. Pacing education teaches athletes different strategies to best distribute their energy during a race. This race strategy and pacing education has been studied for years among professional track and field coaches and athletes alike. They can be used in different sprint events, including the 100-meter, 800-meter, mile run, and more. Here are some examples of training exercises that your coach might use to help you develop the best race strategy possible:
- The even split is a strategy where you’ll try to hit the same split during each lap. The athlete runs at an “even” pace the whole time, often considered a smart strategy for long-distance runs.
- Positive-splitting involves completing the first half of your race faster than the second. You’ll go out of pace faster than you can maintain the whole time, resulting in a slower end to the race.
- Negative-splitting involves finishing the second half of a race faster than the first. Your coach will start you out slowly initially, then increase your speed as the race goes on.
- Another training technique is the sit-and-kick, where you sit in the densest pack of the race and don’t take the lead until you’re on the last laps. You can use this to help you reach the finish line faster as you increase your speed toward the end.
Personal Track and Field Coaching- Strength & Stamina Conditioning for Relay Sprinting
Strength and stamina conditioning is vital for relay sprinting. During your personal coaching lessons, you’ll learn how to improve endurance and maintain a stronger pace over long distances. This training might include regular long-distance, tempo, and other running styles as your endurance improves. Baton exchanges are also important for relay sprinting and races. You can work on these exchanges with your trainer or fellow athletes as you see your condition improve for a smooth hand-off every time.
